The long-running PBS Series “American Experience” will feature Polaroid founder Edwin Land on its 3703rd episode. Titled “Mr. Polaroid,” the documentary about Land premieres May 19, 2025, at 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET. Check your local PBS station for days and times. More than 50 years ago, Land dreamed up “a camera that you would use as often as your pencil or your eyeglasses.” He would also come to believe his company was “on its way to lead the world — perhaps even to save it.” Hubris, technology, brilliance, and a billion photographs a year are all part of the rollicking Polaroid story, according to Broadway World. The documentary will delve into Polaroid’s rise, its rivalry with Eastman Kodak Co., and Land’s enduring impact as a visionary, inspiring figures like Steve Jobs. The documentary is directed and written by Gene Tempest, produced by Amanda Pollak, edited by Josh Melrod, and executive produced by Cameo George.
